Skinny Tag L/S
I grew up around a lot of artists. As a youth, I was super into hip hop culture and street art as an intersection of the culture. A major cornerstone of hip hop culture is tagging, graffiti, and visual art in general. I was always in awe of the artwork on music merch and album covers, and being a kid in the 90s was a golden era for my observation of the artwork that informed this new graphic for DazedNotConfused. I’m a big believer in drawing, and this brand has brought me back to that practice a lot. I wanted to do something that pays homage to the artists that inspired me to take street art and incorporate it into my style. My roots are in the city of LA for generations that boasts a rich culture of street art and even in my 30s I’m still experimenting with fonts and styles and technology and technique to find that perfect tag. Most of the time I like big, bold, bubbly fonts but my hand is still improving which I really love being able to admit. I threw the dopamine graphic on the back leg like a sticker slap that you’d find on the crosswalk button IYKYK. Part of the artist’s journey is that it’s lifelong, as long as you are willing to practice and work on your craft. These designs are being created pretty much in real time, so as I’m experiencing life I’m taking those lessons and turning them into garments for you to wear. There’s nothing quite like a long sleeve tee and pair of cozy fleece shorts in the spring time, it’s the perfect hybrid outfit for when you’re out in the field getting up and might have to use those sleeves for something but still be ready to run if you have to. As an athlete these are two staple pieces for off the field or court, after practice or after the game. Mix and match the classic colors of grey, white, blue, and black with your Favorite staple sneaker to complete this look. This fit would match well with the socks from this season too!
